Making A Slab-Built Round Sphere
into a Classic Teapot!

-For Beginning to Advanced Potters-

Hand building is a challenge…and so is making a perfectly round sphere out of a flat slab of clay!  So many forms begin with this basic design.  But it has also been said that one of the most difficult objects to master in clay is the teapot.

This fun and informative workshop by National Award Winning Teapot Designer, Gail Smith, will remove the mystery of making a pleasing, drip-free, round slab built teapot.  With her casual style, Gail will guide you step-by-step from building the round contoured teapot body, a dripless spout from a “whale tail” template, a perfectly fitting lid with a decorative knob, and finally a handle to complement the overall design.  She’ll show when to use soft and leather-hard clay, demonstrate creative and unique skills, and the use of new and repurposed tools to make your overall clay experience more enjoyable.  Whale tale templates are included!
